Dwayne Miller

    Dwayne K. Miller, 86, of 405 27th Ave. South, Clear Lake, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
    Funeral services were held Friday, May 4, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Diana Hoover officiating.  Following the service he was cremated and inurnment will be in the Ft. Dodge Cemetery at a later time. Family suggests memorials to Dwayne K. Miller Memorial Fund in care of Clear Lake Bank and Trust.

    Dwayne was born Dec. 10, 1925 on the family farm at Highview, Iowa the son of John Wesley and Cora (Keister) Miller.  He was in the class of 1944 at Webster City, Iowa. 
    He married his childhood sweetheart, Viola Mae White on Jan. 13, 1945 at the United Brethren Church, Webster City.  He managed the Brins Furniture Store in Webster City, where he was active in the Elks Lodge and was mayor of Seneca St.  He later managed the Linnway Furniture Store in Marshalltown, Iowa where he was active in the Kiwanis and Chamber of Commerce.  In 1977 they moved to Estherville, Iowa where they owned and operated the KFC.  In 1982 they moved to Clear Lake and operated P.M. Park for over 18 years until they retired.  Dwayne and Viola moved to Apple Valley Assisted Living in 2004. 
    He was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.
    Dwayne is survived by his wife, Viola Mae Miller, Clear Lake; two daughters, Judee (Jim) Miller, Clear Lake, and Rhonda Stephens, Clear Lake; daughter-in-law, Yvette Miller, Clear Lake; seven grandchildren, Dawn (Miller) Hejna, Blake (Cathrin) Miller, Jodee Blair, J.D. (Ann) Miller, Jarrod (Alyssa) Benson, Cody Stephens and Audra Miller; five step-grandchildren,: Tyrone Green, Charles (Kathleen) Green, Anthony (Jessica) Green, Justin (Sarah) Green and Tiffany (Glenn) Harrington; 14 great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Kramer; brother, Kenneth Miller; and a son, Dennis Miller.
    Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
