Downtown truck-pedestrian accident results in fatality

    A Clear Lake woman struck by a vehicle in downtown Clear Lake Tuesday morning, April 3, died as a result of her injuries that evening.
    Carolyn Mahaffey, 73, was struck by a truck at the intersection of Main Avenue and 4th Street shortly before 9:30 a.m.  According to a police report, Mahaffey suffered

severe trauma to the head.  She was transported to Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa.
    Max Christensen, 87, of Clear Lake, was the driver of the truck that struck Mahaffey, according to the release. The accident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
