Diercks places 2nd in long jump
Chandler Diercks, a freshman on the Clear Lake track team, took home second place in the Class 3A long jump Friday in Des Moines. Diercks set a new personal record for himself in jumping 21’ 11.75” and finished just one-quarter of an inch out of first. Glenwood’s Grant May, a senior, won the event with a mark of 22’.
Diercks’ jump was his best of the season by a remarkable eight inches.
Diercks said he was pleased and surprised by his performance at State and is already looking toward a return next season. He has set a goal of gaining weight and muscle to become an event stronger jumper.
