Dawn Eliese Drydale

Dawn Eliese Drydale, 64, of Clear Lake, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, November 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society in Dawn’s memory.

Dawn Eliese Axelsen was born March 15, 1960, in Mason City, the daughter of Chris and Donnabelle May (Savage) Axelsen. Dawn received her education at the Meservey Thornton School System. Dawn was married to Dean Avery, with whom she was blessed with two children, Josh and Becky.

Dawn worked in accounts receivable and payables for several years at AMPI, Metalcraft, Serta, and most recently at Pritchard’s, where she formed lasting connections with her colleagues.

In 1998, she married John Drydale at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Dawn had a heart for family, especially cherishing her role as a Grandma. Known for her homemade apple butter, she enjoyed baking and cooking, sharing her treats with loved ones. Dawn also had a passion for shopping and could often be found enjoying a Doris Day movie.

Dawn is survived by her husband, John Drydale; children, Josh (Sarah) Avery and their children Kohl and Brody; Becky (Darren) Hewett and their children, Kristen, Katie and Avery; Amy (Dave) Hauge and their children David and Briana; Angie (Robert) Hochmuth and their family, Garrett, Allie and Grant; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Chuck (Nancy) Conroy, Tom (Gina) Axelsen and Rick Axelsen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie (Janette) Drydale, Robert (Mary) Drydale, Connie (Ash) Jones and Bonnie Drydale; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dawn is preceded in death by her parents, Chris Axelsen and Donnabelle May Axelsen; brothers, James R. Conroy and John B. Axelsen; brothers-in-law, Joe and Donald Drydale.

Ward Van Slyke is in charge of arrangements.
