Council votes to buy three properties
Homes to be razed for redevelopment
The City of Clear Lake will purchase three dilapidated properties on South 3rd Street to clear the way for redevelopment.
Monday night Council members approved spending $98,000 to buy 1115, 1119 and 1123 S. 3rd St. The properties are
owned by Loren J. Roney, of Swaledale, Iowa. The purchase price represents 107.6 percent of the assessed value for the the properties, according to City Administrator Scott Flory.
The homes will be torn down and the city will ask for proposals to redevelop the lots.
Mayor Nelson Crabb pointed out previous Councils have taken similar action to remove blighted properties and encourage redevelopment.
