Clear Lake tops Hampton-Dumont in final game of regular season

The final game of Clear Lake’s regular volleyball season Tuesday, Oct. 21, was dubbed “pink out” to raise breast cancer awareness.  The Lions played lights out and topped Hampton-Dumont, 3-1.

Coach Keith Sears noted it was also Senior Night and the contributions of the Lions’ eight seniors were recognized.  The group was dedicated to finishing on a high note and helped the team pick up their seventh win of the season.

The Lions started off strong, winning the first set 25-18.  But in the second and third sets mental mistakes kept the games closer.  The Bulldogs took the second game, 25-22, but Clear Lake swung momentum back their way in the third to win, 25-20.    In the fourth, the Lions’ serving was excellent and hitting was consistent.  The team only missed three serves in the final game and made just one hitting error while posting a 25-8 victory.

“It was a great way to end our regular season and prepare for Forest City in the post-season,” said Coach Sears.

Lindsey Loudenburg was 28/29 with four aces in the match.

At the net the Lions were led by Emily Snelling with 12 kills.  Emily Phalen had 11 and Katie Hewett  and Sidney Borrill each were credited with nine kills.

Kaye Faber had 28 assists in the win.  Carney Frahm led the team in digs with 25.  Faber had 22 and Phalen 21.
