Clear Lake and GHV girls earn pre-season rankings

Lions ranked 9th; Cardinals 11th

The Clear Lake and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura teams both appear in pre-season rankings released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Friday, Nov. 22.

The Clear Lake Lions compiled a record of 17-5 last season, under the direction of Coach Bart Smith.  This year’s squad returns a pair of All-North Central Conference players, Logan Anderson and Trudy Peterson.  Bailey Kibsgaard was a Third Team selection in 2012-13.  Anderson and Kibsgaard were also honored as All-Region players.  The Lions will have five returning letterwinners and a solid group of juniors on this year’s squad.

Garner-Hayfield/Ventura went 16-8 last season. This year’s team includes All-North Iowa Conference players Maddie Tusha and Bri Bier. Tusha was a defensive leader for the team while Bier was the Cardinals’ leading scorer. 

 

The next IGHSAU rankings will be posted Thursday, Dec. 5.
