Clear Lake and GHV to be represented at Drake Relays
A pair of Clear Lake athletes, as well as one from Garner-Hayfield/Ventura will compete at the prestigious Drake Relays this weekend.
Chandler Diercks will return to Drake seeking to become a two-time winner in the long jump. The CLHS senior has the top jump in the state so far this year at 23’8.5”. Diercks won at the Drake Relays in 2014 with a leap of 23’10”, just one and three-quarters of an inch
shy of the Drake Relays record of 23’ 11.75” inches set by Chris Walker of Davenport West in 1984. Diercks will compete in the long jump at Drake at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Joining Diercks will be first-time qualifier Lexi Jones. The CLHS freshman will compete in the high jump at 9:45 a.m. Jones qualified with a leap of 5’2”.
GHV’s Taylor Vossberg will also be competing in the high jump at 9:45 a.m. on Friday. A first place finish last week with a jump of 5’0” qualified Vossberg, a senior, to compete at the Drake Relays.
