Clarence Low Jr.

 Clarence Low Jr., 85, Fertile, Iowa, died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa, Mason City.
A funeral service was held on Friday, April 18, at the Church of Christ, Fertile, with Rev. Rod Perry officiating. Interment was at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, where military Honors were conducted by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Memorials may be given to the Clarence Low Jr. Memorial Fund.

     Clarence was born Aug. 3, 1928 in Northwood, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Luella (Freeman) Low. He grew up in the Manly, Ventura and Fertile areas. Following school he farmed with his dad and brother. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following an honorable discharge, he came back to Fertile and farmed.
He enjoyed going to the Five Star Elevator in Hanlontown, Iowa, and playing Liars at the Liars table in the Fertile Café. He really enjoyed spending time with his family. He had a special relationship with Harold “Sunny” Brunsvold and his family.
Clarence is survived by his brother, Gene (Lois) Low, Fertile; sisters, Beverly (Ralph) Smith, McIntire, Iowa, and Donna (Earl) Miller, Clear Lake; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leonard ‘Buddy” Low; three nephews, two great-nephews and one great-niece.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
