CL tops IF-A, falls to Mason City in recent tennis action
The Clear Lake girls tennis team took on Mason City and Iowa Falls-Alden last week. The Lions moved their record to 2-1 with a split.

Clear Lake’s number three and four players, Kylie Bottjen and Kirsten Jordan, won their individual matches, then teamed up to win in doubles, but Mason City won overall, 6-3. The match was played Monday, April 6.
“Playing against an experienced team like Mason City helps us raise our own level of play as we continue to work on consistency and mental toughness,” said Coach Mary Jo Peterson.
In junior varsity action, Madison Brant and Jassmine Rucker won, 6-2; Philomena Schnoebelen and Kristi Peterson won, 6-2.
CL 9, IFA 0
The Lions rolled past Iowa Falls-Alden , 9-0, in a match played April 10.
“Even though the overall score doesn’t reflect it, there were many close matches that took a focused game plan by each of the players,” said Coach Peterson.
Specifically in the fifth and sixth singles matches. Kiersten Baalson and Chloe Mueller each won by scores of 10-8. “Both stayed focused and made adjustments to defeat their opponents,” said the coach.
In junior varsity play, the teams of Mikayla Brant and Rayanna Schaeffer, Bailey Goldberg and Irene Swanson, and Alexa Julsen and Lainey Arians all won. Madison Brant won her singles match.
