CL Police make arrest in wake of July incident
A Mason City man has been arrested on willful injuries charges stemming from a July 6 incident in Clear Lake.
Police Chief Greg Peterson reported that at approximately 11:18 p.m. July 6 an altercation arose between two groups of
young men that were attending the Fourth of July carnival in City Park. According to witnesses, two of the individuals, identified as 21-year-old Cody Kramer, of Northwood, and 21-year-old Hunter Olsen, of Mason City, began to fight. At some point during the fight 22-year-old Landon Martin, of Mason City, allegedly stepped into the altercation and stabbed Kramer in the cheek. According to witnesses, Martin then threatened the rest of the people in Kramer’s group before he, Olsen and an unidentified female fled the scene.
Clear Lake police officers looked for them after the incident was reported, but they were unsuccessful in locating the trio.
Kramer later sought medical attention for the wound at the Mercy Medical Center Emergency Room where he received eight stitches.
Peterson said the CLPD has been attempting to get in touch with Martin and Olsen since the incident, but neither subject has contacted the department. An arrest warrant was issued for Landon Martin on a charge of Willful Injury, a class B Felony. He was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and jailed at the Cerro Gordo County Jail. His bond was set at $10,000 cash.
