CL Middle School principal accepts Mason City job

Clear Lake Middle School Principal Dan Long will be leaving the district at the end of the school year to accept the position of principal at Mason City High School.

Superintendent Anita Micich made the announcement Friday.

“We had a strong pool of applicants and he was one of the top four who were interviewed,” said Micich.  “This is a bittersweet time for all of us, as he has been a strong leader for the middle school and they have made some significant changes during his four years with this program. His work with the administrative leadership team has been excellent and they will miss him as well.”

Long, who was named CLMS principal in 2009, will begin his new position July 1.  The Mason City School District is not new to Long.  He taught social studies at MCHS for eight years prior to moving to Clear Lake.

Long could not be reached for comment.
