CL girl’s BB team to participate in Iowa Pride Challenge Nov. 18

This year the Clear Lake High School Girls Basketball team has been awarded an Iowa Pride Scrimmage that will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 18. The scrimmage is part of the Iowa Pride Challenge, in which schools participate in a local community service project of their choosing.

The Challenge is a voluntary statewide service initiative conducted by the Iowa Hall of Pride. The girl’s team has selected the Engage! Winter Outerwear Drive as their service project. On the evening of the scrimmage, new or gently used coats, hats, boots, gloves, scarves, and snow pants will be collected to distribute to people in need at a later date. A donated winter item or $5 contribution will be accepted for admission to the scrimmage.  Adult and student activity cards will not be accepted as admission for the Pride scrimmage.

The scrimmage will take place at the Clear Lake High School gym.  The girls will face Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock, with JV starting at 6:15 p.m. and the varsity to follow.

“Please come to get a preseason look at our team and contribute to their service project. This is a great opportunity for our girls to give back to the community,” said Dale Ludwig, CLHS athletic director.
