City sets public hearing for proposed paved trail at recreation area

The Clear Lake City Council will hold a public hearing March 18 about a proposed outdoor recreational trail.

The Parks and Recreation Department has developed plans for a three-quarter-mile long trail to wind around the city’s recreation area located on 12th Avenue South.

Parks and Recreation Department Director Randy Miller explains the trail would be open to foot and bicycle traffic; motorized vehicles would not be permitted. The trail is envisioned as multi-purpose, for use by runners, walkers, joggers, cyclists, and roller-bladers. The proposed trail would be eight-feet wide and made of asphalt.

The City Council will review bids for the project at its March 18 meeting.   The city has budgeted $100,000 for the project. The proposed completion date is early June.
