The changing face of Clear Lake
Days after Lincoln School was razed, another longtime Clear Lake building came down Tuesday. The Fredriksen Welding Shop at 209 1st Ave. S., and annex building to the east were torn down by a crew from Nettleton Excavating to make room
for condominium development. The site was purchased by Tim Stenberg, of Joshua, Inc. J.J. Frederickson Blacksmith & Wood Work Shop was housed in the brick building in the early 1900s. Laurence Fredriksen returned to Clear Lake after World War II and reopened his father’s blacksmith shop which had been closed for several years. He operated the shop until he passed away in October 2011.
