Celebration ends on a hot note
You can’t keep a great celebration down.
Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce officials reported an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 persons attended its Fourth of July parade and 25,000 plus were on hand to watch fireworks shot over the lake Wednesday night.
“I was very pleased with how the activities of the Fourth went, considering the heat and mid-week timing
of the Fourth,” said Chamber Executive Director Tim Coffey. “The crowds were down from last year due primarily to the heat, but we estimated that approximately 15,000 plus saw the parade and approximately 25,000 stayed for the fireworks. So overall it was successful.”
Evans United Shows owner Tom Evans said the heat prevented the carnival from a record-setting year, but the event was still a success.
“The net proceeds will fund additional Chamber events that bring people to Clear Lake,” added Coffey. - Read More Via e-Edition
