Carol Korth
Carol J. (Schulz) Korth, 60, of Ventura, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 11, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura with the Rev. Dr. Brian Saunders and the Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ventura Cemetery.
The Carol Korth Memorial Fund has been established for those wishing to honor her memory.
Carol Jean Schultz, the daughter of Erwin and Gina (Thompson) Schulz, was born on Dec. 21, 1952 in Watertown, S.D. She grew up in Waubay, S.D., graduating from Waubay High School in 1971. She received her LPN degree from Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, S.D. in 1972. Following graduation, she was employed by Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown, Wis., where she met her future husband, the Rev. Daird W. Korth. She also worked as a nurse at Shorehaven in Oconomowoc, Wis. She was united in marriage to Rev. Korth on July 16, 1977 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, Wis. Following their wedding, the couple moved to Fort Wayne, Ind., where she served as a nurse at Parnell Park Nursing Home. Carol spent one year with her husband in Algona where Rev. Korth vicared at Trinity Lutheran Church. There they welcomed the birth of their first son, Nicholas, in 1979. The couple moved to Ventura in 1981 to serve at Redeemer Lutheran Church. They welcomed the birth of their second son, Christopher, in 1983.
Carol spent 32 years as a devoted Pastor’s wife, and was involved in nearly every aspect of the church. She served as the assistant director and preschool teacher of Redeemer Daycare & Preschool for many years. She was the high school bible class teacher, midweek school teacher, Women of Worship (WOW) member, LWML member, and affectionately referred to as “Pastor Mom” by many who knew her. Carol was famous for her cooking and baking, which was enjoyed by many friends, family, and guests who regularly stopped by. She was an avid gardener, loved sewing, and especially spending time with many friends and family. She was a loving mother of her two boys, Nicholas and Christopher, of whom she was most proud.
Left to cherish her memory, is her husband of 35 years, Daird; sons, Nicholas (Jodi) Korth of Omaha, Neb., and Christopher (Catherine) Korth of North Liberty, Iowa; sister, Margaret (Jack) Willard of Clear Lake, S.D.; nieces and nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gina and Erwin Schulz.
Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner was in charge of arrangements.
