Cards claim championship by a landslide at home meet
It was a night the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys track team will always remember. The Cardinals won their home meet by a landslide. GHV captured the title with 137 points. West Fork was 49 points behind with 88 points. Lake Mills was third in the 12-team meet with 82 points.
GHV had two relays place first. The 4x200 team of Kevin Boehnke, Connor Shaw, David Cook and JJ Loschen won with a time of 1:36. Also winning was the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:02.67. The relay consisted of Shaw, Cook, Loschen and Sam Cataldo.
The Cardinals had a one-two finish in the 400 meter hurdles. Cataldo won the event in 59.89 and Shaw was second in 1:00.18. Cataldo also had success in the 110 meter hurdles, winning the race in 16.23.
Ezra Marroquin also contributed to the team score with a first place finish in the 400 meter dash, 52.06. He was second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.08.
Logan Dalbeck and Derek Brown finished in second and third respectively in the 1600 meter run. Dalbeck’s time was 4:46.57 and Brown ran a 4:52.60.

•800 meter run: Brown, third, 2:13.44
•3200 meter run: Ray Cataldo, fifth, 10:40.26
•High jump: Boehnke, fourth, 5’6”
•Long jump: Marroquin, fourth, 18’09”
•4x100 relay: Marroquin, Shaw, Cook, Boehnke, third, 46.78
•4x400 meter relay: Nich Mehmen, Cook, Harley Forry, Sam Cataldo, third, 3:43.06
•Distance medley: Forry, Corey Hauptman, Mehmen, Dalbeck, second, 3:57.76
