Cardinals pick up three wins
It was a good week for Cardinal baseball, as they topped Belmond-Klemme and swept a double header from North Iowa, moving their record to 8-14.

Belmond-Klemme 0
Garner-Hayfield/Ventura held Belmond-Klemme scoreless on Wednesday, June 26, on their way to a 4-0 victory.
Zach Buseman was the winning pitcher. He gave up four hits and walked one. He struck out nine batters in his seven innings on the mound.
Belmond-Klemme’s pitcher, Elijah Kinseth, had a good game against the Cardinals, he just didn’t have the back-up. He struck out 12 batters and only gave up two hits.
Keith Schwickerath and Jimmy Ermer were the only Cardinals able to get a hit off Kinseth. Schwickerath connected for a double that drove in one run.
Buseman, Nathan Hrubes, Schwickerath and Derek Lonneman scored the Cardinals’ four runs.

G-H/V 11, North Iowa 5
The Cardinals picked up a pair of wins on Friday, June 28, as they swept a double-header from North Iowa.
Josh Theobald was the winning pitcher in the first game, allowing five hits and striking out five to lead G-H/V in the 3-2 decision.
Zach Buseman led the offense with two hits and two runs. Braden Meints had one hit and scored one run. Theobald also recorded a hit for the Cardinals.
The nightcap was a make-up game for an earlier game that had been rained out. The Cardinals got into the swing of it in the last game, scoring three runs in both the first and second innings. The Bison just couldn’t keep up, as the Cardinals cruised to an easy 11-5 victory.
Heath Hutcheson led the team at the plate with four hits, three RBIs and two runs. Spencer Shaw also had a good night, recording three hits and three runs. Buseman had two hits and knocked in two runners.
Shaw was the winning pitcher. He gave up nine hits and four runs. He struck out four and walked five batters. Theobald pitched for an inning and a half. He gave up one run, walked one and struck out one.
