Cardinals compete in indoor meet
A small group of Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls track members competed at the Buena Vista Indoor Meet on Friday, March 21.
“These early meets give us a chance to see where we’re at so we know what work needs to be done,” said Coach Dyan Childress. “I was excited to see the girls compete well. We’ve been able to get some good performances in and now we have time to fine tune things before we head outdoors.”
Dasi Larson led the team with a first place finish in the shot put with a throw of 40’.
Three girls competed in the 60 meter hurdles. Sola Stephenson led the pack with an eighth place finish in 11.19. Also competing was Stacy Hackenmiller and Brooklyn Laird.
Stephenson and Laird also competed in the long jump, with leaps of 13’8” and 12’1” respectively.
Rebekah Larson ran the 1500 meter run in 6.24.77, for a 23rd place finish. She also ran the 400 meter run and placed 35th with a time of 1.20.53.
Competing in the 60 meter dash was Hackenmiller, 9.05, 28th place; Betshaida Larson, 9.15, 30th; and Laird, 9.46, 39th.
