Cardinal soccer girls fall to A-P, 7-0
Looks can be deceiving. Despite a 7-0 loss to Aplington Parkersburg on Thursday, May 7, the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls soccer team had some positive aspects come out of the game.
“A-P is just that good that it looked like we had a bad game. But I am not disappointed with the loss, because we had some positives too,” said Coach Josh Banse.
The fact that the girls are starting to click as a team has the coach excited for a big push at the end of the season. Coach Banse is also looking forward to the return of Hannah Lau, who has been out with an injury since the beginning of the season.
“It will be an interesting week with the return of Hannah and a whole week of practice to push our way to the end of the season,” said Banse.
Against A-P, Emily Spilman had three shots on goal. Sydney Childress and Tiara Van Gerpen each had two shots on goal.
Goalie duties were split between Sam Betz, who had seven saves, and Morgan Westendorf, who had four saves.
