Brenda “Bren” Quincey Olson, 62, died on Monday, March 23, 2015, at Valley Spring, S.D.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at George Boom Funeral Chapel, Brandon, S.D., with the Reverend William Bates officiating.  Interment was in Swedona Cemetery, rural Brandon.

Brenda “Bren” Currier was born April 29, 1952 to Harold and Joy (Coe) Currier, at Mason City, Iowa.  Bren grew up and received her education in Ventura, Iowa, graduating from Ventura High School.  Upon graduation, Bren attended cosmetology school and worked in that field for a brief time.

On Oct. 21, 1974, she was united in marriage to Rick Quincey, from this union the couple was blessed with two children, Misty and Trevor.

On June 13, 1998, she was united in marriage to Scott Olson, and the couple were blessed with a daughter, Marissa, and they made their home in Valley Springs, S.D.

Bren had several jobs over the years, she worked for Luverne Truck and Equipment for a time.  But, most notable, “Ole’ Bren’s Place,” in Carson, S.D.; a bar in which she owned and bartended.  It was here where she made several friendships that would last a lifetime.  After closing the bar, she opened her own home cleaning business where she worked until 2009 when health issues stopped her from working.  Through all these experiences Bren couldn’t go anywhere where she didn’t know someone.  She was a true lover of people who never forgot a face or a name.

Her hobbies included camping trips with her family.  She enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the cabin they own at Lake Madison.  She loved to cook for company, and always made enough for an army.  She also enjoyed traveling for dance competitions and horse shows, and designing costumes for horse shows.  She also loved thrift store shopping for a bargain, and stopping by the dollar store.  Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, it was they who brought her greatest joy.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Scott Olson, Valley Springs; daughters, Misty (Adam) Hunter, Valley Springs, and Marissa Olson, Gulf Port, Miss.; son, Trevor Quincey, Valley Springs; sister, Sandy Namanny, Valley Springs; brother, Denny (Bev) Currier, Clear Lake; and grandchildren, Cohen, Adeline, and Charlie Hunter, and Zoey Quincey and Logan Quincey.
