Barbara G. Hollibaugh
Barbara Gale Hollibaugh, 88, of Aurelia, Iowa died on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Aurelia, Iowa, where she had been living since December of 2015.
Memorial services for Barbara G. Hollibaugh will be held at a later date in Winfield, Kan. The Redig Funeral Home, in Aurelia, is in charge of local arrangements.
Barbara Gale Allred was born on Oct. 30, 1934, in Jackson, Miss., the daughter of Robert Henry and Helen (Mahon) Allred. She attended school in Natchez, Miss., graduating in 1952. She later attended North Iowa Area Community College. On Sept. 18, 1954, Barbara married Ralph Robert Hollibaugh at Bay St. Louis, Miss.
Barbara was a homemaker and she liked to sew, garden, and cook, and loved birds, arranging flowers, and doing crossword puzzles. She was known for her writing. Many of her published writings were featured in the local newspaper under the nom de plume, Sarah Gordeau. Her faith in Jesus was her never ending source of strength. She was a member of the Clear Lake Women’s Club, Gentilly Garden Club, Republican Women’s Club, Progress Club, and was a Girl Scout leader and a church camp counselor.
Preceding Barbara in death were her parents; her husband, Robert, on Jan. 29, 2016; and her siblings.
Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her children, Holly Peck and her husband, Ted, Cherokee, Iowa; Bradley Hollibaugh and his wife, Linda, Kingwood, Texas; Julie De Stigter and her husband, Tim, Aurelia, Iowa; Farley Hollibaugh, Crosby, Texas; Stanley Hollibaugh and his wife, Emily, Kingwood; and foreign exchange student son, Maarten Gijsbers and his wife, Jantine, Oegstgeest, The Netherlands. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Libby Gustafson and husband, Dan, Cherokee, Iowa; Lana Martinez and husband, Robert, Waukee, Iowa; Hannah Hollibaugh, Kingwood; Clara Hollibaugh, Kingwood; Robert Hollibaugh and Dulcie Dahle, Ocean Springs, Ms.; Phillip Hollibaugh and wife, Luvia, Kingwood; and Jennifer Miller and husband, Mark, Boise, Idaho. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren, Cole, Lilah, and Annabelle Gustafson, Charlotte and Olivia Martinez, Bradley and Jack Hollibaugh, Felicia, Samantha, and Julio Barron, Gavin Garcia, and Max and Finley Miller; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
