Area athletes earn soccer conference recognition
Three members of the Clear Lake softball team and three from Garner-Hayfield/Ventura received Honorable Mention recognition in the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State Soccer voting.
Seniors Summer Tannahill and Hannah Bartlett, along with junior Logan Anderson were honored from Clear Lake’s school record-setting 10-4 squad.
Seniors Jesslyn Prohaska and Bethany Nannenga, and sophomore Emily Spilman represented G-H/V on the Class 1A Honorable Mention list.
Anderson paced the potent Clear Lake offense by scoring a team-high 22 goals. She also had 11 assists on the season. Bartlett was another strong offensive threat for the Lions. She put in seven goals and dished out 11 assists. Tannahill played mid-field, helping to set up the Lion offense and keeping the ball away from the opponent.
Spilman was the main scoring threat for the 2-9 Cardinals. The sophomore scored seven goals and had two assists during the season. Prohaska and Nannenga were mid-field players.
