    The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has received a significant financial donation that will help establish a program to ensure the viability of its Fourth of July Fireworks for years to come.

Dale Katz

    Dale Katz, 73, of 19 12th Street S.W., Mason City, was called home to his Heavenly Father, on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at his home after a short battle with gallbladder cancer.
    The family greeted friends on Friday, June 24 with a scriptural wake by the Rev. Kenneth B. Gehling, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City.  A private family graveside inurnment will be held at a later date.  Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to the Dale Katz Memorial.

The Clear Lake softball team continued to make forward strides last week, picking up two wins in four outings.  The Lions are now 7-13 overall,  1-8 in the North Central Conference.

    The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has received word that three Republican candidates for the presidential race will walk in Monday’s 10 a.m. parade.

School Board approves sharing agreements

The Clear Lake School Board gave its approval Monday to a 28-E agreement with the Mason City Community School District to continue a sharing agreement for the services of Superintendent of Schools Anita Micich.  This will be the second year of the agreement.
    The one year agreement stipulates a 60/40 split between the Mason City and Clear Lake districts for salary and benefits.  It keeps Micich’s salary at $177,500.  Clear Lake’s portion of that is $71,000; Mason City’s portion of the salary is $106,500.
