Officials at the Senior Citizens Center of Clear Lake have announced Homebound Meals (formerly Meals on Wheels) will no longer be prepared and sent out from the facility, effective June 30.
Site Manager Linda Matson explained that for several years the Senior Center has been a sub-contractor for Elderbridge Agency on Aging to provide meals for those in the community requesting the service. Although the meals will no longer be prepared and sent out from the Center, Matson said Elderbridge Agency on Aging will still provide meals to those in need of the program.
“We want to extend our deepest appreciation to the countless volunteers, cooks and site managers who have given their time to this program,” said Matson. “If there is any business, organization or individuals in the community who are interested in taking on the responsibility for this program, you are encouraged to contact the Elderbridge Agency on Aging in Mason City.”
The Senior Citizens Center, located at 105 S. 4th St., will continue to offer activities to those interested in taking part. At the present time, seniors may play pool any weekday morning, 500 Cards on Monday, and puzzles are set up at all times.
“There is plenty of room for groups to socialize over a cup of coffee and the building is also available to rent for your next family gathering or event,” added Matson.
Those with questions or concerns should direct them to the Center at 641-357-5443 or stop by from 7 a.m.–noon each weekday until June 30.
