Vincent Otis
Vincent A. Otis, 88, of Mission, Texas, and Cumberland, Wis., formerly of Northwood, Iowa, died peacefully on May 2, 2014 at Mission Regional Medical Center, Mission. Graveside services for Vincent are planned for Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at St. James Cemetery, Forest City.
Vincent was born on April 6, 1926 in Forest City to Jerome and Nellie Otis. Vincent attended Forest City schools. Vincent served honorably in the U.S. Army in Korea. Vincent married Enid Clark on Oct. 24, 1953. They were later divorced. Vincent married Beverly Carpenter on July 28, 1993.
During his life, Vincent farmed in and around Forest City and Ventura. He later became an engineer for Carroll George, Inc., Northwood, and retired from there. In his retirement, he spent time in both Wisconsin and Texas and enjoyed dancing and socializing with other winter Texans.
Vincent is survived by his wife, Beverly; his six children, Michael (Mary) Otis, Patrick Otis, Colleen (Michael) Blankenship, Eileen (Matt) Miller, Daniel (Darla) Otis, and Carmel Retz; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Nellie, as well as by brothers, Thomas and Eugene.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Project.
