Eleanor Hepperly

Eleanor L. Hepperly, 98, Clear Lake, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.  

Funeral services for Eleanor were held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Ventura United Methodist Church with Pastor Dr. Reverend Rhoda Preston officiating.  Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.  

Eleanor was born Aug. 16, 1915 southwest of Britt, Iowa, to Lon and Sue Wright.  She attended country school and Britt High School.  On April 21, 1934 she was united in marriage to Louis Hepperly at Mason City.  They were married for 68 years.  They rented a farm north of Britt several years and then purchased a farm north of Ventura and lived there until retiring and moving to Clear Lake.  Louis passed away April 1, 2003.  

Eleanor enjoyed gardening and yard work.  She loved to make cookies.  She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.  She was a member of Ventura Methodist Church and an active member of her Ladies Circle until her health and eye sight failed her.  She stayed in her home for five years after Louis’s death and then moved to Apple Valley Assisted Living for three years.  After that Eleanor moved to the Courtyard Assisted Living and the past two years she was at the Oakwood Care Center.  

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Don) Severson, Joice, Iowa; son, Jerry Hepperly, Clear Lake; six grandchildren, Linda Rae Severson, Larry (Linda) Severson, Scott Hepperly, Julie (John) Rasmussen, Todd Hepperly, and Jon Hepperly; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; and other extended family members and friends. 

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Sue Wright; husband, Louis; sisters, Cleo (Bill) Faust, Marguerite (Lynn) Olson, Glenice (Bob) Hughes; and one brother, Glenn Wright.

     Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
