CL boys tennis team rolls over A-P

The Clear Lake boys tennis team rolled over Aplington-Parkersburg in dual meet competition last week and a handful of Lions players took part in the Mason City Invitational.

The Lions won five of six singles matches and swept doubles play for a lopsided win over Aplington-Parkersburg Monday, April 27.  

On Saturday, May 2, the Lions’ top two singles players and three doubles teams competed in the Mason City Invite.   The Lions’ Sam Jones won the number won singles title, going 3-0 on the day.  Clear Lake’s number one doubles team of Andrew Davis and Ben Mason finished second with a 2-1 record on the day.  

Zach Nielsen also played in the singles competition and was 0-3 on the day.  Doubles teams Jacob Peterson/Hunter Gerhardt and Eric Hahn/Tashmit Khan each went 0-3.

Mason City, Decorah, and Waverly each participated in the tourney.

Tashmit Khan/Noah Copney lost, 6-1

Duke Olthoff/Cooper Wilson lost, 6-2

Tashmit Khan/Duke Olthoff lost, 6-5

Hunter Gerhardt won, 6-3

Noah Copney/Cooper Wilson lost, 6-4
