Chandler Diercks has become Clear Lake High School’s first athlete to win two Drake Relays titles. The Clear Lake senior jumped 22’8.5” Friday to capture his second straight title. His winning margin was more than a half-foot in damp conditions in Des Moines.
“There was definitely a lot of pressure to repeat. I had to keep my head up and do what I do and perform,” said Diercks. “It’s a blessing and an honor.”
Diercks has committed to take his considerable talents to Iowa State University in the fall.
CLHS freshman Lexi Jones qualified to compete in the high jump at Drake. Jones finished in a pack of competitors in 13th place, clearing 5’.
GHV’s Taylor Vossberg also competed in the high jump. Vossberg, a senior, did not clear the opening height of 5’.
