Wayne Hasbrouck
Wayne Hasbrouck, 81, of 405 27th Ave. S. Clear Lake, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Ed Bard, chaplain of North Iowa Hospice
officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery with military honors provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. and then one hour before service on Thursday. Family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa or Apple Valley Assisted Living.
Wayne was born Jan. 22, 1931 on the family farm south west of Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Seffa (Baker) Hasbrouck. He attended country school through the eighth grade and then attended and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1949.
Wayne married Evelyn Moraine Melby on June 26, 1954 in Onawa, Iowa. They moved to Clear Lake, Iowa in 1968.
Wayne entered the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1957 with the rank of Sgt. First Class. He worked for Tractor Supply for over 35 years, retiring as manager of TSC in Mason City in 1993.
Wayne enjoyed gardening, doing farm and yard work for Nieman Farms, boating, golfing, his fishing trips to Canada and he was an avid Hawkeye fan.
Wayne is survived by his two children, Vicki (Gene “Skeeter”) Welch, Clear Lake, and Bruce (Joy McGrane) Hasbrouck, Clear Lake; his very long-time special friend, Virginia Grimm, Clear Lake; four grandchildren, Vanessa (Jason Schultz) Hasbrouck, Sioux City, Iowa, Natalie Hasbrouck, Ventura, Ryan (Heather) Welch, Northwood, Iowa and Nathaniel (April) Welch, Grimes, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Aubrey Schultz, Ethan, Sydney, Finley and Scarlett Welch; three brothers, Morris (Virginia) Hasbrouck, Ida Grove, Iowa, Ricky Hasbrouck, Great Falls, Mont. and Jerry (Joanie) Hasbrouck, Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sisters, Lavonne (Hans) Witzel, Castana, Iowa and Retha (Richard) Bielenberg, Morrison, Ill. and brother-in-law, Dennis (Rose) Melby, Fairmont, Iowa, Gary (Stephanie) Melby, Brawley, Calif., Nancy (Jack) Hoden, San Marcus, Calif., Christy Vivian, Huntington Beach, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Moraine in 1994; sister, Louise Stinton; and brothers, Jess and Leonard Hasbrouck.
