Kevin Wayne Gunsallus, 54, of Clear Lake, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City, Iowa on Tuesday, Feb. 8, with Pastor Dan Gerrietts and Pastor Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial was in Osage Cemetery, Osage, Iowa. Family suggests memorials to Kevin Wayne Gunsallus Memorial Fund.
Kevin was born on Oct. 22, 1957, in Osage, the son of James and Phyllis Gunsallus and was the oldest of their three children. He grew up in rural Osage before moving to Clear Lake in 1983.
While Kevin was not working in his chosen profession, design engineering at IMT in Garner, Iowa he enjoyed many things in life. His passions included motorcycles, cars - Corvettes in particular, snowmobiles, Vikings, Hawkeyes, and the Minnesota Twins. He often tried to enjoy many of these activities on the same weekend. When he wasn’t out enjoying those activities he always enjoyed his other passion, spending time with his family. Kevin often visited his parents on the weekend and cherished many days spending time with his daughters and their families. From play dates with his grandchildren, to working on his daughters’ homes, or out to sporting events with them, work or play, any excuse to spend time with his family was a treasured day.
Kevin is survived by his parents, James and Phyllis Gunsallus; a brother, Michael Gunsallus; a sister, Venita (Denis) Chezik; three daughters, Jacqlyn (Bill) Ferjak of Minneapolis, Minn., Jennifer (Tom) Faber of Clear Lake, and Jessica (Pete) Cash of Ventura; three grandchildren, Lorelei and James Cash, and Kennidy Faber. Kevin is also survived by three nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Daniel and Megan Chezik.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
