High speed chase out of CL ends with arrest

Dumont man finally apprehended in Klemme

    A Dumont man is in custody after leading law enforcement on a high speed chase  out of Clear Lake early Tuesday morning.
    According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Michael Grover, 22, of Dumont, failed to stop for a Sheriff’s Deputy who witnessed a traffic violation at approximately 1:35 a.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of South Shore Drive.

    The deputy attempted to stop the tan 1999 Mercury Cougar, but the vehicle fled south out of Clear Lake on gravel roads. The chase continued on county roads into Klemme, reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph.
    A Hancock County Deputy successfully deployed “stop sticks” near Klemme, deflating the driver’s side tires of the vehicle.
    The vehicle continued to flee on flat tires through Klemme where the pursuing deputy was able to end the pursuit.  After a short chase, the deputy took the driver into custody.
    Grover was wanted on three outstanding Cerro Gordo County warrants including possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.  Grover was also charged with eluding, interference with official acts, and driving under suspension.
    Grover is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
    The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, Britt Police Department and Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene.
