Overwhelming support shown for Bowling for Blake Bowl-A-Thon
Approximately 700 adults and students turned out during the holiday break for the Bowling for Blake Bowl-A-Thon, held in memory of former Clear Lake High School teacher, Blake Lobdell. The event was held at the Rose Bowl in Mason City on Dec. 26-28.
“The response by the community of Clear Lake was, once again, overwhelming and we want to thank everyone that participated for their support,” said Jane Lobdell, wife of Blake Lobdell. “What a wonderful tribute to Blake - whose passions were family, education and bowling.”
Around $3,500 was raised from the event to go to the Blake Lobdell Scholarship Fund. A scholarship will be given once a year to a graduating senior to help them continue their educational goals.
“We hope to make this an annual event so that we can continue to help a graduating senior,” said Lobdell.
Donations to the scholarship fund will continue to be accepted and can be mailed to the Clear Lake School Community Foundation, c/o Doug Grabinski, 705 1/2 7th Ave. N., Clear Lake, Iowa 50428. All donations are tax deductible.
