Councilmen finish service

First Ward Council representative Shane Cooney and Third Ward Councilman Ben Furleigh completed service as Clear Lake City Council representatives Monday night, Dec. 18.  Clear Lake Mayor Nelson Crabb led a tribute to the men near the conclusion of the meeting.  The moment was a bit surreal, Crabb admitted.  Both Cooney and

Furleigh were students at Clear Lake High School during Crabb’s tenure there as an educator.  However, he admitted learning much from both men during their time on the Council and thanked them for valuable leadership they provided for the city.
“I hope I have given a lot; I feel like I received a lot,” said Cooney, who spent six years on the Council.
Furleigh, who served four terms, said he leaves “with a lot of confidence in the city.”
