No contested races in Clear Lake or Ventura for General Election
There were no contested races in either Clear Lake or Ventura for the Tuesday, Nov. 8 General Election.
In Clear Lake, incumbents Mike Callanan and Terry Unsworth were returned to the council. They will be joined by newcomers Dana Brant and Jim Boehnke.
Callanan received 271 votes to maintain his At-Large position on the Council. He was elected to the Council in 2007 to an At-Large seat. Callanan is a retired high school social studies teacher and coach. He is currently a substitute teacher, Clear Lake school district energy manager and is assistant varsity boys track coach at Clear Lake.
Unsworth received 251 votes for his at-large position. Unsworth originally served one term on the Council, ending in December, 2009, representing the Second Ward. He was appointed to the at-large position formerly held by Jon Monson in September, 2010. His appointment was for the period ending with the November, 2011 election. Unsworth is retired from Meredith Corporation where he worked in advertising, circulation and retail sales management for 33 years.
Brandt received 80 votes for the First Ward seat vacated by Shane Cooney. Brandt manages rental property and cares for his four children.
Boehnke, a small business owner, received 89 votes to obtain the Third Ward seat previously held by Ben Furleigh.
In Ventura, three City Council Representatives ran unopposed in seeking re-election.
