 Clear Lake High School freshman Michaela Niles has been named to the All-North Central Conference teams. Niles, an outfielder for the Lions, was a Second Team pick.

School Board will accept nominations until Aug. 5 to fill vacancy

 All persons interested in filling a one-year vacancy on the Clear Lake School Board are asked to submit a cover letter and resume by Aug. 5. Interviews will be conducted Aug. 11.

School Board retains Kelly Services to hire substitutes

 The Clear Lake School Board renewed its contract with Kelly Educational Services (KES) Monday night to handle substitute staffing for the school district.
 On a 3-1 vote, with Board member Chyrl Bergvig voting against the measure, a one-year contract with KES was approved. Board President Chad Kuhlers was absent.

Next City Council meeting will be at Fire Station

 Due to the reconstruction project at Clear Lake City Hall, the next City Council meeting, scheduled for Monday, Aug. 4, will be held at the 

Clear Lake Fire Station, 711 2nd Ave. N. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Clear Lake Noon Lions held their traditional Chicken Barbeque Sunday in City Park.  Club members started their day in the early morning hours, setting up a massive grill along the Sea Wall and cooking chicken, using their secret

Mary Marshall

Mary Rogers Marshall, 71, passed away on July 17, 2014, in Canoga Park, Calif.

She was the wife of Gary Marshall, and daughter of Kingsley and Darlene Rogers.

A memorial service will be held on a future date.

Marie E. Jackson

 Marie E. Jackson, 87, of Clear Lake, and formerly of, Kanawha, Iowa, died Friday, July 18, 2014, at the Concord Care Center in Garner, Iowa.
 In keeping with Marie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a future date in Clear Lake.
 Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Marie’s name to Hospice of North Iowa.

Edna Knutson

 Edna “Jean” Knutson, 100, 2207 North Shore Dr., Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. According to her wishes her body has been cremated.
A Memorial service will be held noon on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the First Congregational Church, 205 W. 10th Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Rev. Brian Harris officiating. A private inurnment was held at the Clear Lake Cemetery.
