          The
        Giving
         Tree

CLHS
students
begin
tradition
of giving

Clear Lake High School is start-
ing a new tradition in support of the
annual Giving Tree.
“This is an opportunity for our
school to give back to our communi-
ty, which has given us great support,”
said Mike Lester, who is organizing
the event with fellow teacher Troy
Tysdahl.
	 Coin jars have been placed
throughout the high school build-
ing for donations. There will also be
“dress up day” where students and
staff can donate money for the cause.
	 If CLHS students reach their
$500 goal, there is an “out of the box”
educational day planned for the day
before holiday break.  “Along with
this day there is also an opportunity
for a few students to throw a pie into a
certain administrator’s face that thor-
oughly enjoyed volunteering!” added
Lester.
Tuesday, Dec. 22, is being de-
signed as a day to create lasting mem-
ories while creating an amazing educa-
tional experience.
The day will start off with a pub-
lic assembly. At that time academic
and extra curricular successes will be
recognized.  The festive day will also
start with a few exciting challenges for
the student body.  The dance team will
be recreating their State performances
along with other activities. The Excel
students will also be performing their
play in the auditorium that afternoon.
Following the assembly students will
be in their Pride Time teams.  This
portion of the day will be broken up
into segments.
	 “We are creating activities that
will promote team work, skill build-
ing, and problem solving skills,”
said CLHS Principal Chris Murphy.
“Our students and staff are very ex-
cited about this opportunity for a new
learning experience.  We are driven to
create this opportunity due to the true
lasting relationship possibilities and
learning experience.”
