The Lions had a good road test Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Algona Garrigan.
“Algona is a good team and are well coached with a lot of experience back. I was pleased to see the girls play together and get the win,” said Clear Lake Coach Bart Smith. “The things we worked on in practice were showing up in the game. That’s a sign of a good team that wants to be successful.”
The Lions used a balanced scoring attack for the 54-46 conference win.
“I feel we are a tough team to guard because of our balanced scoring and unselfish play,” added Coach Smith.
Sophomore Logan Anderson led the way with 14 points. Kristen Hewett had 11 points and Meg Monson finished with 10. Megan Loux was next with nine points, followed by Trudy Peterson and Kaitlyn Pitzen with four apiece. Madi Peterson rounded out the scoring with one basket.
Hewett was the team leader in rebounds with seven. Peterson had five boards while Monson and Pitzen each grabbed four.
Coach Smith said he feels his team can improve on rebounding to make their game even better.
“We are on a nice winning streak here but we need to stay humble and continue to improve on some things. Our rebounding is definitely something we need to improve on.”
