Vikings fall to undefeated Harris-Lake Park

Harris-Lake Park showed the Ventura boys why they are the number one team in the Cornbelt Conference and a top ranked team in the state on Friday night, Jan. 6.  The 11-0 Wolves topped the Vikings 65-33 in the Ventura gym.

    “We knew H-LP would be tough, but we didn’t think, and still don’t think they’re unbeatable,” said Coach Chad Brown.  “We’ll see them again in our last game of the regular season, and we’d like to give them more trouble at their place than we did at home.”
    Ventura made some changes to their starting lineup for this game.  According to Coach Brown, a few players showed that they deserved a shot at some more playing time.  Starters included senior Joel Watson; juniors Jace Byers and Sam Treloar; sophomore Joel Toppin and freshman Logan Ryerson.
    “Logan Ryerson was a silver lining from Friday night’s loss,” said Brown.  “He really stepped up and showed he belonged on the floor.”
    The Wolves didn’t waste any time gaining a lead with a first quarter score of 17-4.  By halftime they stretched the lead to 33-14.
