Veterans Memorial Golf Foundation asks city to fund course improvements
Labor donated for needed work
The Clear Lake City Council heard one of several budget requests from city entities in workshop session Monday night. The Veterans Memorial Golf Club Foundation has asked the Council to consider funding about $18,500 in capital improvements at the golf course.
Materials for a new tin roof on a cart shed, renovations to the bathrooms in the clubhouse and a new brick exterior stone facade for the clubhouse have been identified as three projects for fiscal year 2012-13. The foundation said it has commitments to provide all of the necessary labor for the projects.
Foundation Board member Shane Cooney told the Council a weather-tight tin roof is proposed to replace the existing roof on the cart shed located east of the clubhouse. Without the improvement the structure, which pre-dates the clubhouse, would likely need to be demolished, he said. Materials for the work are estimated at $6,800.
