Record setting temperatures
It is definitely a January to remember. On Thursday, Jan. 5, an 82-year-old record high temperature was shattered and Tuesday, Jan. 10 another record high was expected to fall. According to the National Weather Service, Thursday’s high was
57 degrees at the Mason City Municipal Airport, beating the record of 47 degrees set on Jan. 5, 1930. Tuesday’s temperature was expected to reach 50, besting the record of 49. Normal highs this time of the year are around 25 degrees. But all good things must come to an end and it appears colder weather will move in this week, but still no snow.
