Lions take title at Jim Ahrens CoEd Relays

The Clear Lake boys edged St. Ansgar by just one point to capture the title at the Jim Ahrens CoEd Relays run Thursday, May 8, at Lion’s Field. Coach AJ Feuerbach said one key to the win was the third place finish earned by the 4x800 relay.

“Lucas Kirchoff, Nick Barillas, Zach Merfeld and Alex Webb came up huge and got one of their best finishes of the year in this event to help get us going on the way to victory,” said Feuerbach.
The Lions finished the meet with 100 points, while the Saints had 99. Forest City and West Fork were also on their heels with 89 and 82 points respectively. The remainder of the field included Hampton-Dumont (64), Lake Mills (57), Iowa Falls-Alden (49) and Belmond-Klemme (38).
Connor Nosbisch placed first in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 15.21 and was part of the Lions’ winning shuttle hurdle team clocked in 1:01.19. Jake Harle finished atop the long jump field with a leap of 19’ 11.5” and was second in both the 100 (11.85) and 200 (23.60) meter dashes.
Other individual placements included: Dustin King, second in the 400 in 53.39; Parker Truesfell, fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:02.21; and Pete Swenson, fifth in the shot put with a toss of 40’ 9.5”.
