Janie Bernhoft

    Janie Marie Bernhoft, 50, 404 S. 9th St., Clear Lake, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at her home following a short battle of lung cancer.  A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.  Visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.  Interment will

be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.  Memorials may go to the Janie Marie Bernhoft Memorial Fund.
     Janie was born Nov. 18, 1961 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Billy and Barbara (Ostendorf) Bergman.  She attended Clear Lake Schools. She married Patrick Bernhoft June 4, 1983 in Canon City, Colo.  They moved back to Clear Lake Oct 22, 1983.  
     Janie enjoyed watching TV, visiting, sitting on her front porch, gardening and listening to music. She loved to take care of her grandchildren, play with the dogs and watch the birds.
     Janie is survived by her husband, Pat Bernhoft, Clear Lake; three children, Dawn Bernhoft-Warnack and her husband, Duane, Temple, Texas, Amber Bernhoft and her fiancé, Justin Torres, Clear Lake, and Amanda Bernhoft and significant other, Eric Morf, Clear Lake; mother, Barbara Bergman, Clear Lake; three brothers, Eddie Bergman and fiancé, Lisa Fox, Clear Lake, Kevin Bergman and his wife. Deb, Mason City, Iowa and Terry Bergman and his wife, Connie, Mason City; two grandchildren, Tucker Jones and Cruz Morf; and several nieces and nephews.  
     Janie was preceded in death by her father, Billy; brother, Billy Jr.; and grandmother, Henrietta Hertel-Ostendorf.
