High speed chase starts at I-35
Four females were taken into custody after a high speed chase that began early Monday morning.
Authorities say the females were caught shoplifting at Walmart in Mason City at 4:50 a.m. and fled in a vehicle toward I-35. Clear Lake Police stopped the vehicle on Highway 122 at 5:02 a.m. and the females allegedly fled again. The pursuit continued to Hardin County, where the vehicle was again stopped in the southbound lanes of I-35 near mile markers 144-147. The
females then allegedly fled on foot but were apprehended by police.
Arrested was 37-year-old Charneice L. Chatman and 34-year-old Naomi White, both of Chicago, as well as 25-year-old Shemeca Hicks of Riverdale, Ill., and 31-year-old Tanesha Theresa Barrow, no address given. All are charged with 5th degree theft and interference with official acts. Barrow is also facing counts of eluding law enforcement in a vehicle, speeding and failure to control.
They are being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
