GHV boys golf tops West Fork
West Fork Meet
GHV traveled to Sheffield on Tuesday, April 22, to face West Fork at Ridge Stone Golf Course. The Cardinals topped the Warhawks with a team score of 170.
Senior Jacob Heinemann had his best round of the season, shooting an excellent even par 36.
“This is one of the best rounds of the season in this part of the state,” said Coach Ken Krause.
Ryan Grunwald turned in his best round of the season, shooting a solid 43. Braeden Johnston added a 45 and Matt Schroeder completed the scoring with a 46.
Clarion-Goldfield Meet
The Cardinals finished in the middle of the pack when they faced Clarion-Goldfield and Iowa Falls-Alden on Friday, April 25. Clarion-Goldfield won the meet with a 167, followed by GHV with a 178 and IF-A recorded a 187.
“Friday was a great day to be on the course,” said Coach Ken Krause. “The weather was perfect.”
Matt Schroeder played his best round of the season and led the Cardinals with a 41.
“Matt keeps improving his game everyday,” said Krause.
Desipte two bad holes, Jacob Heinemann came back and hit the ball very well to record a 43 for GHV. Rounding out the score was Mitch Lunning with a 46 and Grady Umbarger with a 48.
“This was freshman Grady Umbarger’s first varsity start and I thought he hit the ball well,” said Krause.
Also golfing was Braedan Johnston with a 50 and Ryan Grunwald with a 51.
