Denise Powers

    Denise Renee (Clapper) Powers, 47, of 115 Little Ojai Dr., Indian Mound, Tenn., died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at Blanchfield Army Hospital in Fort Campbell, Ky, after a courageous battle with cancer.
    Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 20, at Dyers Creek Church of God with the Rev. Jeff Wallace officiating.

    Denise was born Feb. 23, 1964 in Clear Lake, the daughter of Dale and Janice (Milton) Clapper of Clear Lake. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1982. Denise married Jeffrey L. Powers on May 14, 1983 at United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, and to this union two daughters were born, Alicia and Christina.
    Denise and Jeff traveled the world while Jeff served his country in the Army. Denise had many loves including caring for her family, painting, photography, sewing and scrapbooking.  She also enjoyed rescuing animals and caring for her many pets.
    Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jeff; daughters, Alicia Powers and Christina (James) Fisher; two granddaughters, Emma and Zoey, all of Indian Mound, Tenn.; her parents, Dale and Janice Clapper; two brothers, David (Christie) Clapper, and Chad (Angie) Clapper, all of Clear Lake; her in-laws, Tom and Zoe Powers, Kensett, Iowa; brother-in-law, Tim (Grace) Powers, Columbia, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Lisa (Wade) Ficken, Mason City, Iowa, Kelly Powers, Northwood, Iowa; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and a very special friend, Dawn Mayberry.
    She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.
