Clarine Olson
Clarine K. “Claire” Olson, 66, of 213 Asbury Drive, Clear Lake died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011 in Leland, Iowa.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 at the Winnebago Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, Iowa with the Rev. William Peters officiating. Interment will be in Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake and then one hour before the service
on Thursday at the church. Family suggests memorials to the Clarine Olson Memorial Fund.
Clarine was born Dec. 16, 1944 in rural Thompson, Iowa the daughter of Casper and Tillie (Hofdmann) Olson. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1962. She worked in Minneapolis for Honeywell. She later worked at Winnebago Industries Stitch Craft, and Chicago Northwestern Railroad and then for Curries Manufacturing prior to retiring in 2008. She also worked summers at the Muskie Lounge, Ventura.
Claire enjoyed her three cats and was compassionate about all animals. She enjoyed quiet time spent in the beauty of nature and all God’s creatures. She was an avid gardener and quilter. She loved making blankets for her grandchildren, spending time with her family and many close friends. Claire loved life and experienced her dream trip of a lifetime this year on an African Safari.
Claire was a beloved mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her daughters and grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dawn (Andrew) Serdiuk, Tampa, Fla. and Kelly (Mike) Kuhlemeier, Rockwell, Iowa; four grandchildren, David and Peter Serdiuk and Jacob and Payton Kuhlemeier; two brothers, Dennis (Donna) Olson, Joice, Iowa and Robert (Martha) Olson, Jewell, Iowa; former husband, Gary Thompson, Lake Mills; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth “Red” Olson; and infant brother, Duane Olson.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
