Lions’ head coach resigns

The Clear Lake School Board accepted the resignation of Clear Lake varsity boys basketball Coach Kevin Kahler Monday night.

Kahler, who is in his eighth year as the Lions’ head coach, said Tuesday he had no comment about his resignation and promised to release a statement after the basketball season is over.

Kahler’s resignation was included in the School Board’s consent agenda Monday.  There was no discussion.

Assistant Coach Dave Peters resigned his position last month, choosing to accept the School District’s early retirement incentive package.  Peters teaches high school English.

Kahler’s letter of resignation only addressed his coaching duties, not his teaching position at the high school.
