The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls cross country team is making great strides. They placed third as a team at the Belmond-Klemme meet held on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
“We were very pleased with the results,” said Assistant Coach Emberly Albertson. “Placing third shows that we are improving all around. Several girls on our team ran their personal records, which is really all you can ask for as a coach.”
Eagle Grove won the meet with 54 points, followed by Forest City with 70. GHV finished the nine-team meet with 83 points.
Abby Christians led the Cardinals with a fifth place finish in a personal best time of 20:02.
“Abby finished the race strong and had a huge improvement on her time from the previous meet,” said Albertson.
Jillian Heitland finished in 18th place with a time personal best time of 21:48. She was followed closely by Rachel Sokol and Allison Johnson, both recorded personal best times. Sokol finished in 20th place with a time of 21:58 and Johnson was 22nd in 22:09. Nicole Upmeyer was 33rd with a time of 22:45. To read more of this article, please login or sign up for our E-Edition
